Capsim business simulations are flexible, adaptable, and easy to deliver
Integrate Capsim business simulations into courses at all levels of graduate, undergraduate, and high-school senior courses. Delivery is online for use in classrooms of all sizes, distance learning programs, or a combination of both.
The benefits of the Capsim simulation experience span an expansive student audience. From the young and impressionable minds of college freshman, to the more fully developed and business educated minds of MBA students, Foundation, Capstone and Comp-XM have their place.
Many teaching opportunities
Although, Foundation is the less complex of the two simulations, it does work very well at the MBA level. Similarly, Capstone is commonly used at the MBA level but is used effectively for undergraduate seniors. Depending on class size, class length and learning objectives, instructors can choose either simulation and modify certain portions to fit specific needs and increase or decrease the level of difficulty.
Instructor focus is the key
If an instructor is teaching a strategy course at the undergraduate level, he or she may choose Capstone because of the potential for students to introduce up to eight products within five market segments. At the MBA level, Capstone is very popular in traditional capstone courses as it encourages students to integrate their knowledge across functional areas including finance, marketing, production, competitive analysis, strategy and even team dynamics. Foundation, with its emphasis on the essentials of business, is used just as often in introductory courses for freshman as it is with MBA students who need a refresher course in finance or where time is a consideration.
Instructors who teach engineering, law, health care, and other non-business related disciplines have used Foundation in their curriculum sighting the importance of understanding the basics of business no matter what a student is majoring in. Again, it all comes down to instructor focus.
Quarters, semesters and everything in between
Foundation and Capstone are easily implemented into both academic quarters and semesters. Some instructors implement the simulation during the second half only while others pace out the simulation over an entire 16-week course. Whatever the need, Capsim business simulations can be condensed or extended to fit the teaching objectives.

Comp-XM: Test with assurance
Comp-XM can serve two purposes. It can be a test given as a final exam. Or it can be a tool used to demonstrate Assurance of Learning. Comp-XM is fair, secure and comprehensive. Instructors can set up and activate Comp-XM in less than five minutes. Depending on what is being tested, instructors can choose to use the default exam or take time to adapt the exam by choosing additional questions in the Board Query section.
Online and in the classroom – it’s easy
All Capsim business simulations can be delivered online for distance learning, in the classroom, or a combination of both. Additionally, students need nothing other than a computer and an Internet connection to participate in a Capsim business simulation.
High Schools use Capsim Simulations
Foundation is currently being used at the senior level in approximately 150 high schools. This use indicates that perhaps it is never too early to begin learning the essentials of business. Fundamental business concepts can be illustrated and practiced throughout the use of the simulation. High School students begin to understand what business is all about using a fun and easy tool.
