Capsim simulation-based programs are offered as onsite seminars, online seminars or in hybrid formats, designed to suit client companies’ exact needs.

The simulations work as stand-alone training events, or as a basis for integrated learning in leadership development, management development or other wide ranging training modules.

Rich, robust and flexible simulation platforms support the effective training of participants whether they are together in one room, or spread around the country or throughout the world.

Capsim develops training schedules and agenda in conjunction with client representatives to ensure they deliver on organizational development goals.

Onsite Delivery
From two to four days, these intense, face-to-face seminars focus the learning from the simulation on each individual client’s current business issues, providing extensive opportunity for discussion and analysis and powerful team building opportunities.

Participants enter a dynamic head-to-head competition, aiming to maximize their numbers and attract the attention of Wall Street. Each team decides its own strategic direction and sets its own benchmarks for success. Winners are determined based on how each team performs against its self-determined measures.  A company aiming to be the low cost, low tech producer, for example, might choose to be measured by Return on Assets, Asset Turnover and Market Share. A high-tech, niche player, on the other hand, might aim for Return on Sales and Cumulative Profits.

It is not the strategy that determines the winner, it is how well each team executes against their own strategy.

Onsite programs have maximum emotional engagement and offer:

  • Experience in team dynamics and decision making under pressure
  • Networking opportunities
  • A venue for broader strategic conversations
  • An opportunity to synthesize other learning models (finance, for example, or decision skills or operational excellence) with the realistic experience of running a business
  • The discipline of working face to face with a team and under the scrutiny of the peer group
  • The ability to train large numbers of people in one session

Online Delivery
Online seminars begin with a simple choice, will participants compete in teams or as individuals. From there Capsim works with clients to develop a fully supported, engaging training experience that fits their participants’ business schedules.

Stable, reliable software, plus access to online support and a business coach combine to make online training smooth and effective. Capsim online seminars are called ‘live online seminars’ because they are not traditional computer-based learning. A business coach who is expert in the simulation will debrief the class after each round and be available to participants to answer questions and expand their understanding.

The software contains communication packages to facilitate teamwork and peer evaluation modules to provide feedback on individuals and their learning goals.

Participants can set their own schedules, within any criteria the client determines.
On registration, participants commit to joining scheduled live debrief session (all they need is an internet connection and a phone line) designed for both feedback and Q&A. Online programs have maximum flexibility and offer:

  • The capacity to offer training to people in remote locations
  • The opportunity of practicing long-distance team management skills without risk
  • Ability to work within a wide range of schedules and time zones
  • Capacity to train large numbers of people at once

Hybrid Options
Many Capsim clients build their own training programs using a mix of online and live training elements. For example, programs can be introduced live, with the balance of the simulation conducted via the web. Alternatively, programs can be launched and conducted over the web, and concluded with a face-to-face final day of debriefing and feedback.

Hybrid formats are ideal for taking the learning into the workplace and providing opportunities for growth over a longer period of time. They allow a business simulation module to be integrated into broader training and development programs creating a holistic training experience.
