Berkeley Teaches Competitive Strategy with the Capstone Simulation

Junior and senior business majors at Berkeley's Haas School of Business agree that the use of the Capstone Business Simulation in Dr. Frank Schultz's Competitive Strategy course adds excitement and emotion to what could otherwise be a very dry course. Frank Schultz creates his course by combining the interactivity of the simulation with important concepts from the textbook and class lectures, in order to effectively and thoroughly teach the fundamentals of business to his students.

His students, like 1000s before them, play the eight rounds of Capstone. Schultz admits that the stakes skyrocket when the simulation portion of the course kicks in, but the final presentation allows even those who did poorly in managing their companies get a chance to redeem themselves in front of their classmates and Dr. Schultz.
