Page 3 of 3 Remember: You need to buy production facilities to build your new product. Buying plant takes one year. Therefore, if your project finishes in June, you have a difficult choice. You can buy the plant and equipment a year early and watch it sit idle for six months. Or you can buy the plant in the year of introduction and wait six months before you can sell the new product. You can make the most efficient use of our resources by coordinating your R&D project with your production plan so that both arrive at about the same time, say December.
