Page 1 of 3 The Production Department schedules manufacturing runs for each sensor. The department is also responsible for purchasing or selling production capacity and for determining automation levels.
The Production Department has one assembly line with room for four more– each sensor requires its own assembly line.
The department determines production schedules based on sales forecasts from the Marketing Department.
Each assembly line has a first shift capacity. The capacity reflects the number of sensors that can be produced each year with an eight hour shift. The company can schedule a second eight hour shift, which allows the company to manufacture up to twice capacity, however second shift labor costs are 50% higher than first shift.
