The following is a suggested template to guide your class discussion about the ethical issue or dilemma that will engage your students during the business simulation experience. Of course, you may provide your students with an alternative model to help shape your discussion in a different way.

Apply the problem—solving formulaask yourself:

  • What is the issue?
  • What are the facts of the case?
  • Who is affected inside of the company and outside of the company?
  • What are the choices?

Select your preferred option and evaluate the risks and benefits to stakeholders:

  • Is it legal?
  • Is it fair?
  • Can I justify it?

As a team or individually:

  • Reach a consensus and make a decision.
  • Follow your company’s financial and operational results over time.

Next week, we will discuss why business ethics should be important to your classroom and your future business leaders.
