Popular Features to Tailor
the Learning Experience

  • Multiple scoring/grading options

Our simulations offer various scoring method to fit different audiences and learning goals:

    • Star Scoring: Evaluate participants across five key metrics each round. Participants must improve on the previous round's performance to earn a star. Star Scoring is idea for introductory courses.
    • Balanced Scorecard: A comprehensive scoring method that evaluates performance across various metrics. This scoring technique reflects real-world reporting and is most appropriate for intermediate and advanced courses.
    • Success Measures: A customizable set of performance metrics with the ability to individually modify the weights of each metric. Instructors can choose the specific metrics and weights themselves, or allow the teams to make those decisions to align with their given strategy. While Success Measures can simplify or elevate the simulation difficulty, it's most often used with advanced participants.

Watch the video below for a more in-depth look at our various scoring methods.

  • Adjustable market conditions

Our simulations give you several tools to configure the scenario. Typical use cases:

    • Increase simulation difficulty: Building in fluctuation or randomization of industry growth rates introduces additional operational challenges for learners.
    • Mirror real-world events: Simulation recessions or booming periods of growth create specific learning experiences that may better fit your course structure or instructional approach.
    • Introduce disparity between sections: For instructors with multiple course sections, providing unique scenarios for each group of student enhances the integrity of the learning experience.

Watch the video below for a demonstration of the various configuration tools.

  • Case modules

A Case Module inserts itself into a currently running simulation, often in the later rounds. It stirs the pot by introducing a strategic threat or opportunity, forcing teams to reexamine their strategies. For example, the case might offer an attractive new market, but to address it, the team would have to rethink their policies in the production function.

Case modules are presented as new decisions and reports that are added into the user interface. In some cases they appear on a new display, and in others they are added to an existing display. They act upon the model as force drivers. For example, they might increase or decrease material costs, demand, or R&D cycle time.

We've created several case modules listed below, but also offer customers the ability to build their own.

Popular Features to Streamline
Course Management

  • Individual and Team Assessments

Gathering assessment data is critical to ensuring a successful learning experience for your students. Below are two examples of assessment tools we provide to both enhance and streamline the process.

CapsimInbox-XM - Assess an individual's mastery of business concepts

CapsimInbox-XM is a simulation-based assessment that pairs directly with our suite of business simulations—giving you the data and insights to simplify grading and streamline outcomes assessment. It offers:

Peer Evaluation - Monitor and improve team performance

Peer evaluations help promote accountability, mitigate social loafing, and gather essential feedback to assess the contribution and effort of each student.

  • Automated debrief tool

The automated debrief tool makes instructors look like industry analysts—teeing up insights, talking points, and visuals to share with participants. After each round of the simulation, the automated debrief tool produces a report containing critical insights into the performance of each company. Instructors can use the information to craft their presentation or share the feedback with students directly within the simulation.

  • Custom report builder

We know that our users need to be able to analyze their participant activity and track results through a customized lens.

With the Custom Report Builder, instructors have easy access to the data they rely on – with the ability to build tailored reports including both participant activity and simulation results.

Custom reports are searchable, sortable, and downloadable. You can even export the information to Excel, providing the flexibility to restructure and format the data as you need.

  • LMS integration

Our integration with popular learning management systems (LMS) gives instructors two key benefits:

    • Single Sign-On (SSO): allows you and your students to access our products directly from your LMS, such as Canvas or Blackboard, without having to use any other log in credentials. This also removes the possibility of students accessing the wrong section within our platform.
    • Gradebook Syncing: allows all scoring and group information to automatically flow between our products and your LMS.
  • Turnkey eText Bundles

From eTextbooks and chapter presentations to team activities and case studies, our bundles give you everything you need to create an engaging and impactful learning experience at an affordable price.
